100 Donations of $1000 Fundraiser

PACC has launched a new fundraising campaign: 100 donations of $1000 – a campaign to continue PACC’s legacy and guarantee its future.

We are seeking 100 donations of $1000 to help us realize our vision and meet our strategic priorities. As a non-profit organization, PACC relies on external sources of funding to operate a functional curling facility. Established in 1887, our building and equipment are aging which means we are facing significant financial commitments. The $1000 donations can be made individually or in groups, such as curling teams, families, and coworkers. However you can support this cause, any contributions are appreciated and go a long way to ensuring future generations can enjoy the sport and social aspects of curling at PACC!

Funds raised will go towards the following specific objectives:

  1. Replace rooftop heating units
  2. Replace 2 gas boilers for the heating system
  3. Replace ice plant condenser
  4. Walk-in cooler for beverages and refrigerated items
  5. Update kitchen equipment, including ovens and fridges
  6. Renovate to accommodate a gender-neutral bathroom
  7. Replace main level flooring
  8. Renovate to accommodate wheelchair access
  9. Repave the parking lots
  10. Replace the roof
  11. Replace the sand base beneath the ice surface with concrete

Through our affiliation with NOCA (as a member of the Ontario Curling Council), we had the opportunity to apply for the National Sport Trust Fund (NSTF). Our application to NSTF-Ontario has been approved – we hope to raise $100,000 to cover the costs of the necessary capital improvements. NSTF is an initiative through the Canadian Council of Provincial and Territorial Sport Federations, Inc. (CCP&TSF), which is a Registered Canadian Amateur Athletics Association (RCAAA), and recognized by the Canada Revenue Agency – Charities Division under the other qualified donees category. That means that a charitable tax receipt will be issued for each donation to the campaign! When you file your donation receipts with your income tax return, you’ll get charity tax credits you can claim to reduce your income taxes. Want to know more about NSTF? Go to https://www.ontariosportnetwork.ca/nstf/about. Also, check out this video for how NSTF-Ontario helped Soo Curling!

The project will be open to donations until the funds needed have been raised. To donate, go to the NSTF-Ontario donor form. Select Port Arthur Curling Centre from the Organization drop-down, and confirm the correct project shows up: PACC Capital Improvement Fund, project #306.

The PACC Board will recognize all donors (except those who wish to remain anonymous) for supporting the project in upcoming newsletters. A special thanks also goes out to Marion Clark for bringing our awareness to this initiative.
